Michigan State Wins!

On Friday I flew up to Colorado once again, to visit my lovely wife. For most of the weekend we just stayed at our new house and continued the never ending process of unpacking all of our crap, and realizing that most of it IS actually crap. Needless to say we have a few huge boxes that are going to Goodwill, and a growing pile of things to put on Craigslist. I am, however, sorry to report that I do not have any pictures of our house that I can post, because I left my memory card in Denver, yet again... Anyways, I'll try to post them after I get back from Chile.
On Saturday, Sarah, Bella and I headed over to Boulder Mountain Park, which is a huge piece of green space just west of Boulder that encompasses the Flat Iron Mountains. Since the last time I hiked there I got a ticket for having Bella off-leash, I decided to succumb to the leftist training that Boulder requires people to do in order to have their dogs run free. Well I watched the video and paid the money and now Bella can officially run off-leash in the town of Boulder.
Sarah and I decided to hike up Green Mountain as a conditioning exercise for Chile. The trail starts at around 5,300ft and you wind your way up to about 8,600ft at the peak. The first half of the trail was pretty easy going, but as we got higher the trail became snow-packed and icy. We have officially decided to plop down the $200 a piece for crampons so that we can hike with good traction. It just isn't worth the risk of falling on the ice, and since it's icy through June, it's probably a good investment. The going got slow and the weather cold, but we plodded along and made the summit.
The way back down didn't seem nearly as bad because the side of the mountain we descended got more sun and there was less ice and more slush. Overall we made it back to the car with minimal injuries and ended up doing around 6 miles total.
That night we headed downtown to meet up with a bunch of friends to watch the MSU basketball game. We ended up meeting each other at the Giggling Grizzly but headed to the Public House to watch MSU hand Pitt their butts.
Now I can't wait for this Friday for the next game. Unfortunately I'll be in Albuquerque, not Denver, but I'll head to the Alumni bar and enjoy the game with my fellow Spartans.

I'm finally moving

Sarah's company, as part of their corporate relocation policy, is purchasing anyone's house who doesn't sell within a certain amount of time. Since our house in Los Lunas didn't sell within the last few months, we are going ahead with the buyout. We are now trying to move out by the end of this week. Talk about hectic. Luckily her company is going to pack up most of my things for me, but I'm still trying to sort out what staying with me in Albuquerque and what gets sent to Colorado. So far I've moved most of my stuff over to my buddy Chris's place, and now I just have to wait for the movers to come and get my stuff on Friday. After the movers leave, I'm headed up to Westminster to drop off Bella at her new home and to spend the weekend with Sarah and her sister Caitlin, who's flying in for the weekend. My new address is : 3400 Bryn Mawr Dr NE Apt 52, Albuquerque, NM 87107

A weekend with the Masey's

On Thursday at 5:30, my boss came to me in my office and asked if I wanted to fly to Phoenix on Friday to deliver some satellite parts to one of our contractors. I told him that I'd pass since I had already purchased tickets to fly to Denver for the weekend. He told me I could make my Air Force ticket fly me to Phoenix and then Denver, so I told him he had a deal.
I ended up getting into Denver around 1pm on Friday and was picked up by Sarah. We immediately headed over to Kara and Erik's place because our friends Kurt, Tracy, and their one year old Nick had flown into town for the weekend from Seattle. This was the first time we had all gotten together since September and was the first time we all got to meet their kid.
On Saturday, Sarah and I took off to purchase things for our new house. Since most of the towels and stuff I own are hand-me-downs from when I went off to college, we decided that it might be a good time to purchase new things since we're moving into a new house.
We ended up spending a fortune at Bed Bath and Beyond, but we got all three bathrooms decked out in towels and rugs, plus I used it as an excuse to purchase a new set of pans. Since my stuff wouldn't move to Denver for another two months, Sarah would need something to cook with, so I purchased a new 13 piece kit of stainless steel pans for me, er... for her.
On Saturday the weather was perfect. It was 75 and sunny all day. When we woke up in the morning however, there was 6 inches of snow on the ground and it's still snowing like crazy. Since none of us really felt like doing anything outside, we pretty much just hung out at the Anderson's until around 2:30 when we headed over to Christina and Greg's place.
From there the Masey's had to head off to the airport to catch their flight back to Seattle, and Sarah and I had to head up to Westminster to purchase a few more things for the house. We also stole an air mattress from Greg so that she and I could spend our first night in our new house.
In typical hilarious fashion, after we get all moved in and ready for bed, our smoke detectors decide to beep every two minutes. I run through the house resetting them all to try and make it stop. That doesn't work. I then remove all of the batteries. Still freaking beeping. I pull one off the ceiling and realize they are hard wired into the house, so I proceed to un-install all of them. The beeping stopped, now we just have to hope there isn't a fire anytime soon.
