The Thorn Wedding

This last weekend was Sarah's sister, Caitlin's wedding. She and I caught a flight on Friday morning to Atlanta where her college friend Angela and her boyfriend Ben picked us up. From there we made the 2.5 hour drive to Montgomery, AL for the wedding rehersal.
This wedding was basically an Auburn University reunion because Sarah, Caitlin, Knox, and all of their friends are all alumni. The rehersal went off without a hitch and we headed to the local marriott for great dinner and some drinks. Of course, it was a Friday night, and all the old folk headed off to bed around 10pm, so us youngin's headed out to the Blue Iguana in Montgomery for some dancing.
After the open bar at the rehersal dinner, and cheap beer at the blue iguana, a great time was had by all, although my head was not pleased with me on Saturday morning.
Since Sarah had hair appointments and pictures all day, I stayed in bed, slept in, and watched some Euro 2008 soccer games on ESPN (GO GERMANY!)
The wedding was short and sweet and the reception was great. Knox had one of the coolest Groom's Cake I've ever seen. It was the Auburn mascot, Aubie, all dressed up in a tuxedo. Freakin' cool.
Anyways, it was great to see her family again, meet a bunch of new ones and party with Sarah's kin.

Airshows and Door Knobs

This last weekend saw me back up to Denver, as usual. Initially, we had these grand plans to hike two fourteeners in one day by bagging Greys and Torrey's Peak on Saturday, and then do our usual house stuff on Sunday. All that changed though when we got an invite to have dinner with our neighbors Ryan and Amanda, and of course they made us margaritas. By the end of the evening, we were all a little sauced and Ryan realized that we were locked out of his house.
The keypad to his garage had a dead battery, and to make things worse, Sarah's purse with our house keys were in their house. Luckily, Sarah is tiny enough to fit through our dog door, so she came through and saved the day. We gave Ryan and Amanda a fresh battery and everyone slept soundly that night.
But of course we didn't make it up in time to do anything productive in terms of hiking. We spent the rest of the weekend at the house, slowly converting all of the hardware from gold to silver. All of the light fixtures in the house as well as the front and back doors were silver hardware, but all of the bedrooms, bathrooms, and closets were gold. We hate gold, so it had to change. 11 doors later of knobs, hinges, and door stops, the conversion was complete. What a difference too. We also added stainless steels knobs to all of our cabinets while we were in the fixit mood.
Saturday, we did get out of the house to go see an airshow. On Friday, Sarah sat in her office and watch all these plans take off from JeffCo Airport and practice all day. We looked into it and found out there was a free airshow. We headed out there to watch a bunch of warbirds as well as modern fighters strut their stuff.
